5th Interaction Week Erlangen, May 2014

The SFB/TR103 members spent their 5th interaction week from Monday 5th to Wednesday 7th of May 2014 at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen. At the meeting the first steps towards the proposal for the second funding period were made. All projects reported on their progress and made suggestions for attractive research topics for the next phase of the collaborative research center. All suggestions were intensively discussed. It was decided to strengthen the areas of alloy development and structural integrity / blade repair in the second funding period. The necessary adjustments in the five cross sectional groups (Ni-base SX, Co-base SX, mechanical properties, characterization and modelling) were agreed upon. At the 5th Interaction Week all cross sectional groups had taken up speed and successful interaction between all projects (and especially between projects from different affiliations) provided scientific output. The SFB/TR103 members agreed on the conditions for participation in the proposal for the next round (4 papers accepted in reviewed journals). The 5th interaction week was also used to prepare the meeting of the SFB/TR103 scientists with the Scientific Technical Advisory Board (STAB), which will take place at the end (back to back) of the European Superalloy Conference 2014 in Giens, France.
