International Workshop on Advanced Cobalt-base Superalloys

Mathias Göken and Steffen Neumeier (Friedrich Alexander Universität, Erlangen) from project B3 of SFB/TR 103 organized an International Workshop on Advanced Co-Base superalloys with γ/γ{xdf1}-microstructures. The meeting was held from 22^nd to 23^rd July in the picturesque castle Schloss Weissenstein in Pommersfelden, Bavaria. Participants from Germany, Japan, Schweden, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States discussed topics related to processing, microstructure, phase stability and mechanical properties of this new emerging class of high temperature materials. The scientific program consisted of invited talks and a poster session. Questions related to alloy development with the objective to increase creep strength at elevated temperature were in the focus of interest. The participants of the meeting enjoyed a guided tour through Schloss Weissenstein, a tour through the city of Bamberg and a superbe conference dinner.
