A2 A TEM assessment of elementary high temperature deformation processes in single crystal superalloys
Project A2 uses transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to identify elementary deformation processes which govern creep and high temperature fatigue of single crystal superalloys. It provides statistically sound microstructural results on the spatial arrangement of dislocations, micro twins, antiphase boundaries, stacking faults and slip bands. Project A2 determines all parameters which describe these crystal defects. Project A2 performs investigations on specimens with well-defined processing, heat treatment and deformation histories. The area of expertise of project A2 is advanced diffraction contrast transmission electron microscopy, where HAADF/STEM is combined with stereo microscopy.
