A6 Micro- and nanomechanical characterization of superalloys at elevated temperatures
The objectives of project A6 are to develop a better understanding of the excellent high temperature properties of two phase γ/γ‘-superalloys by nanomechanical characterization techniques used at elevated temperatures. Especially the influence of specific alloying elements is of interest and will be studied in detail. For this purpose, nanoindentation testing at temperatures up to 600°;C will be used and new indentation creep testing approaches will be further developed. The latter will allow testing at temperatures up to 1200°;C. The technique will be used to study the creep properties on the dendritic scale and to study the gradual variation of properties in diffusion couples after thermal exposure.
